Evgeni Grebyonkin, the head coach of the Russian women’s national team, said to R-Sport that Aliya Mustfina will definitely withdraw from the floor final tomorrow and will likely miss beam final as well. It was Mustafina’s first competition after giving birth and looks like going through the full championships tested her too much. She looked great in qualification but was a bit more tired in the all-around final and definitely looked tired today in the bars final. According to Grebyonkin, she wants to continue but the coaches want to rest her in order to not risk an injury:
“Aliya herself really wants to keep competing here but we decided to save her a bit. That’s why she won’t compete in the floor final. She’ll probably miss the beam final as well. The gymnast is still at the beginning of her recovery and we have to think about the future”.
The first reserve for the floor final is today’s vault winner Viktoria Trykina.
