Well, this happened. Valentina Rodionenko was at loss for words when asked to comment on the men’s team final. She was surprisingly laconic and even nice which can likely be attributed to the shock. Don’t count that this will continue, she will likely return to her normal self tomorrow after the women’s team final.
Rodionenko said to R-Sport:
“I’m shocked, it’s hard to comment… It looked like everything was going well for the team. But that’s how sport is, we’ll keep working. The guys could not handle their nerves, they really wanted to win. Yes, it’s the first medal in the team competition [at Worlds] in 12 years, we qualified to the Olympics, it’s all good, but when you realize how close the victory was…”
