Rodionenko: Lankin’s surgery was successful

Dmitrii Lankin had heel surgery shortly after the Russian Championships to remove a bone spur. The pain from the spur limited him at the nationals and he was not able to compete on all six events. Additionally, undergoing surgery meant that he would definitely miss the upcoming European Championships.

However, Lankin is still in the running for one of Russia’s Olympic spots and, according to Valentina Rodionenko, he has already started light conditioning:

“The surgery was successful. Lankin has already come back to training and is now doing recovery exercises to stay in shape. He will only be able to return to full training after he is cleared by the doctors. We care about the health of our athletes; the coaches are still counting on him.”
