The bad luck regarding injuries stays true to Sophie Scheder. According to RP-Online, the 21-year-old gymnast has broken her right little toe in a training camp in New Zealand. The accident occurred during a hiking trip in the mountains.
Originally Scheder herself reportedly suspected her toe joint to simply have dislocated, an examination by an orthopaedist, however, confirmed that her bone was indeed broken.
In October Scheder was part of the German gymnastics team which qualified to compete in the team final of the world championships in Doha. This competition marked her international comeback from a lengthy break due to a knee injury after the Rio Olympics in 2016, where she managed to win the bronze medal on the uneven bars.
