Valeri Liukin has been attending the Brazilian national team camps for several months now, however, there were no official announcements about his role on the team.
He told TASS that currently he doesn’t have a contract with the team and is expected to work with them only till the end of this year:
“I don’t have any contract with the Brazilians, I’m helping them till the end of the year. I’ll go with the team to the World Championships in Qatar”.
After having to resign from the US national team coordinator position, Liukin likely still wanted to keep working at the national team level, so he, like Mihai Brestian and Liang Chow, looked elsewhere. I’m wondering why he doesn’t have an official contract with the Brazilian team though – could it be that he is also looking at other countries? Or, perhaps, getting a permanent position depends on the team’s performance at Worlds?
